Boxless is an IT consultancy that provides web and cloud computing services to small and medium businesses.

It was founded by me, Andrew Davis.

I have worked as an IT consultant since 2000. (Before that I was a lawyer, but don’t hold that against me.)

Why cloud-based solutions?

After six years relying on them for daily business operations, I have direct experience with cloud-based systems and their dramatic improvement on business productivity.

• Staff members love that the systems are so easy to use, and that they can be accessed from anywhere, anytime.
• Management loves the low cost of deployment and maintenance.
• Everyone loves the automatic backups and disaster recovery. (Except maybe for old-school IT support people.)

Why the name Boxless?

People often interpret it as a reference to thinking outside the box. That’s partly true. But there’s also another reason. In IT, a ‘box’ is a colloquial term for a computer server. And my vision is to rid organisations of all those costly, inefficient boxes.

My story

• 2004: My interest in web apps and cloud-based solutions started when I first implemented Salesforce.com for a former employer. Before that they had been trying to manage customer relationships using Excel. The difference was like night-and-day.
• 2007: I learned about the benefits of Google Apps, and convinced the company to move its email, calendaring and intranet to Google Apps. No more spam. No manual back-ups, or data corruption. And again, a stark improvement in productivity.
• 2010: After years of implementing Salesforce.com and Google Apps, I came across WordPress. I started building websites while continuing my ‘day job’ as an enterprise IT consultant. Then, I decided it was time to share my passion and expertise with other businesses. So, I set up Boxless.
